Which Material?

Most garage doors are manufactured in pressed steel on a substantial steel chassis and with a steel frame but there are other options too .....

- Steel

- Wooden (primarily cedar wood but other timbers are available)

- Glass Reinforced Polyester (GRP)

What is the best size?

Most up and over garage doors are manufactured in an array of standard sizes in order to minimise the cost.  Did you know that a typical garage opening could typically take 4 or more different sized garage doors!  We are here to advise ...

 - The most common standard sizes are 7' x 6'6, 7' x 7' and 14' x 7', still available in imperial sizes today

- There are many standard sizes available from 6'6 to 16' wide and 6' to 7'6 high.

- Purpose made garage doors are also available.

This type of garage door requires a frame (usually steel) that does afford a good degree of flexibility in fitting which means that a standard size will often fit without the expense of going purpose made, particularly if the frame is set behind the garage opening for improved access width and height.

It is possible to have your garage door manufactured without a handle for automatic operation.

There is a good range of standard plain and wood-effect colour options.
